Booking a room at a Las Vegas mega resort should be an easy task. It should be a matter of simply picking the hotel you want to stay at and then reserving the room.
But a growing trend is for mega resorts to have multiple categories of rooms, and sometimes have several different hotels all within in the same complex.

Turns out that operating 3,000 to 4,000 rooms make it tough to land that five star designation. But taking a section of the property and creating suites with upgraded amenities and a dedicated staff helps eschew many of the challenges at running these massive complexes.

Take Wynn Las Vegas for example. When it opened in 2005 the mega resort didn’t just create suites as part of its room assortment, it created a new concept, an entirely separate resort within a resort. Dubbed the Tower Suites, this part of the property is totally isolated from the rest of the hotel. It has its own separate entrance far from the fray, and its own registration desk too.  And with just 296 rooms there is a heightened service experience too. In fact the rooms at the Tower Suites are rated Five Diamonds from AAA and Five Stars from Mobil. It’s the only casino resort in the world with that dual designation.

By separating a set of rooms from the rest of the property and running it like its own hotel, Las Vegas resorts are better able to serve their most discriminating guests.

Down the Strip, the MGM Grand features Skylofts. These rooms are located on the top two floor of the iconic emerald hued building and graft an upscale urban aesthetic onto the Las Vegas vibe. And since there are about 50 of these rooms, they too have received a five-diamond designation. Guests staying here can expect to ride in a private elevator, enjoy butler service and get chauffeured to and from the airport in a custom Maybach 62 limousine where guests are greeted by a personal Concierge.

Through the masterful vision of world-renowned designer Tony Chi, Skylofts embodies an ambiance of indulgence and understated elegance wrapped within neutral tones and graced by rich textural fabrics. Priced from $800 to $10,000 per night, Skylofts accommodations are available in one-, two- and three-bedroom floor plans and range in size from 1,400 – 6,000 square feet.

Trained in the art of relaxation, the Butler provides an array of amenities that can turn the Loft into each guest’s personal spa. The selection includes fragrant bath oils and salts, candlelight, aromatherapy scents, mood lighting and calming music. Also available are the ultimate in sleep amenities – a selection of pillows, herbal teas and relaxing music to ensure an idyllic night’s sleep. Complimentary luggage unpacking and packing services by the Butler are provided and include pressing and shoe shine.

One of the coolest parts of Skylofts is the “Immersion Chamber,” the most decadent of shower experiences, including a steam room, and complemented by spectacular views of Las Vegas. The bath also features an infinity-edge tub with a “Champagne Bubbles” massage function. This luxurious bath experience is enhanced by a selection of Bulgari amenities.

When the Loft proves too tempting to leave, 24-hour, in-Loft dining service is available, prepared specially by the Skylofts kitchen. Exclusive dinner selections from Craftsteak, Shibuya, Diego, SEABLUE, NOBHILL, Pearl, Emeril Lagasse’s New Orleans Fish House and Fiamma Trattoria are available for in-Loft dining.

Conveniently located nearby, SKYSPA is available exclusively for Skylofts’ guests.  In this pampering, 24-hour environment, guests can relax in traditional Japanese soaking tubs made of Portuguese limestone, unwind with a massage given on a cashmere-wrapped table or enjoy a healthy workout in a fitness center offering expansive views of the Las Vegas valley.

There are many new projects currently rising on the Strip. And as they open expect more properties to feature these entirely unique and somewhat secret hotels.
