Before all else, determine if you are going to play online blackjack or at a table in a casino. Either way you are going to play the same rules, so choose the style that will be easiest for you to follow and understand.
If you are playing in a casino find a table that suits your budget. The minimum bet should be low enough for you to comfortably dish out. You do not want to start at a high limit table because this will put unnecessary pressure on you.
Once you sit down you are ready to get started. Do you know all the rules? At least the basics? If you are playing your answer should be yes. As the dealer hands out the cards you should take your time and let the game come to you. Even if there are other players at the table you should not rush. Remember, you are only competing against the dealer. What the other players have in their hand has no relevance to what you are doing.
If your cards are closer to 21 than the dealer, without going over, you are a winner. There is more to the game than these basics, but you do not have to think about the finer details until you have a solid foundation. Do you feel comfortable about getting started?
